Executive Director Dr. Bufford Highlights ‘Made in The Bahamas’ Certification Program at Prime Minister’s Press Briefing

Dr. Ferguson-Bufford, Executive Director of the Bahamas Bureau of Standards and Quality (BBSQ), spoke at the Office of the Prime Minister’s weekly press briefing, where she highlighted the upcoming “Made in The Bahamas” Certification Program. The initiative aims to establish a quality assurance mark that will set a benchmark for quality, sustainability, and authenticity for Bahamian-made products.

Introduced by the Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Bufford’s address underscored the transformative potential of the certification program for Bahamian industries. She expressed BBSQ’s dedication to fostering national pride and global competitiveness by ensuring that locally produced goods meet international standards.

She further shared the extensive groundwork that has gone into the program, including stakeholder surveys and collaboration with regional partners like Jamaica and Guyana. The program is set to launch next year, with the winning design of the certification mark to be unveiled at the National Town Hall Meeting.

The Minister praised the initiative as a key driver for economic growth, encouraging Bahamian manufacturers to participate in shaping a future where Bahamian products are globally recognized for their excellence.

Dr.Bufford encouraged members of the public to attend the National Town Hall Meeting which will take place on November, 14th 2024 at 5:30 PM at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Activities Centre, so that they can learn more about the program and share their insights.
