Dr. Ferguson-Bufford was awarded the Companion of the Order of Distinction at the 2024 National Honours Ceremony, recognizing her visionary leadership and exceptional contributions to The Bahamas.
Executive Director Dr. Ferguson-Bufford proudly attended the 2024 National Honours Ceremony at Baha Mar on National Heroes Day, where she was awarded the prestigious Order of Distinction-Companion. This award recognizes individuals who have made seminal contributions to The Bahamas, positively altering the nation’s course through visionary leadership and exceptional service.
Hundreds of Bahamians were honored at the ceremony for their contributions to society. During his remarks, Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis praised the honourees, stating, “These honourees teach us lessons of resilience, courage, and the power of determination. Their stories remind us that in each of us, there is the potential to contribute to the greater good of The Bahamas.”
Chairman of the National Honours Advisory Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Fred Mitchell, added, “This is the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. We drive on the left, spell honour with a ‘u,’ and continue our traditions with pride. Today, we celebrate those who have made this country great.”
The ceremony recognized nearly 400 individuals for their significant contributions to the nation’s progress.
